Fierce Fun in a Friendly Environment

Muay Thai is an effective, graceful and powerful fighting art––interesting and invigorating with no attitude.

We’re focused on developing excellent Muay Thai form, stamina, flexibility, balance and strength and—on a permission-granted basis—developing partner sparring skills. Beginners are welcome to any class, all of which are currently mixed-level.

Each training class starts out with a 3-10 minute cardio warm-up and loosening up, followed by the teaching of Muay Thai skills for that week, then 35-45 minutes of varied Muay Thai kickboxing skills and drills using Thai pads, heavy bags or partner training exercises, moves into about 15-25 minutes of conditioning and strength training for arms/legs/abs/back and ends with stretching for flexibility. Training and conditioning activities change each week, working every part of the body in new ways. Attention in all cases to form, function, and fun.

With over 2 decades of experience training Muay Thai and over a decade of Muay Thai teaching experience, I teach every mixed-level class in a supportive, clean, bright environment. My two decades of experience in Thai medicine and Thai massage also means I have a keen understanding of the body whether you’re dealing with injury, are worried about starting a new activity or are simply trying to improve your body mechanics to build better Muay Thai, Martial Arts or workout habits and form.

My own Muay Thai and Conscious Combat teachers include Greg Nelson, James Cook, Nick Sacoulas, Gavin Van Vlack, Coban Lookchaomaesithong, Ajarn Sirisute Chai, Georgia Verry and various teachers at ANK Santa Fe, where I taught for 11 years. I studied Aikido and comprehensive women’s Self-Defense with Karin Konkle and with Jonathan Poppele Ki-Aikido I am a proud member of the National Women’s Martial Arts Federation.

Maybe you’d like to train Muay Thai because you love a great, challenging, varied workout and a stronger, healthier body and mind. Maybe you’ve found you’re passionate about becoming the best Nak Muay you can be, because you simply love the martial art of Muay Thai. Maybe you love to spar in your off-time or you use Muay Thai to enhance or balance your other Martial Arts training or perhaps you are hoping to some day take your skills into the ring. In all these cases I am confident I can help you:

Ø  Learn Muay Thai from step one or

Ø  Improve your present Muay Thai technique and form

Ø  Learn and gain new Muay Thai techniques and skills that will improve your workout and your sparring capabilities

Ø  Help you become a good training partner, both through working on pad-holding, partner drills and sparring drills (permission-based only, of course)

Ø  Increase your flexibility, strength, cardiovascular function, speed, timing and accuracy

Ø  Help you become aware of strengths, weaknesses and habits and learn how to use those strengths, improve areas of weakness and switch up your habitual patterns

Ø  Learn better physical form in all of your conditioning and calisthenics too, in order to keep your body healthy, functioning and safe for the long term and to make all your training more effective

Ø  Keep your mind focused and your body relaxed while training hard

Ø Keep your training interesting, challenging, engaging, focused and fun
